Yesterday Tez, a Twitter account that has proven reliable when talking about Rockstar Games projects, said that the company had put the development of the Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto remasters in the fridge. IV for the poor reception of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy โ€“ The Definitive Edition. Today Kotaku can confirm this information and add that another of the studio’s goals is to focus its resources on the development of Grand Theft Auto VI, a title that was announced earlier this year.

Kotaku sources familiar with Rockstar Games’ future plans and projects maintain that the publisher wants to leave behind the fiasco of the classic Grand Theft Auto remasters released in November last year, and concentrate most of its resources and energy in his next big project, which is none other than Grand Theft Auto VI. Despite this, the company has not canceled either of the two projects, since it is not ruled out that both remasters end up leaving the limbo they are in now.

In the event that Rockstar Games decided to recover the remasters of RDR and GTA IV, two projects that have not been formally announced but that were once part of the same rumor that advanced the existence of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, these would never be released. on sale before Grand Theft Auto VI. This last title does not yet have a release date, but its arrival is not expected until 2024 or 2025. Consequently, it will be time to continue adding dollars with Grand Theft Auto Online and copies of Grand Theft Auto V, which accumulates more than 165 million units sold since its launch in 2013.

For those who don’t remember, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was released with many bugs and poor performance. The fiasco forced Rockstar Games to temporarily remove the game from its PC client and apologize to players. “Updated versions of these classic games were not released in a state that meets our quality standard, or the standard that fans expected,” the publisher said. Over time and through updates, the situation improved.
