Electronic Arts has shown the launch trailer for FIFA 23, a title that after three days of early access is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC. This new installment of the EA Sports franchise will go down in history for being the last to feature FIFA on its cover. After failing to reach an agreement with the Swiss organization, Electronic Arts will bet on the name EA Sports FC. The game will only lose “four letters on the box cover”, as the more than 300 licenses will not go anywhere.

The main attraction of FIFA 23 is the HyperMotion2 technology, which adds to the game more than 6,000 animations obtained by capturing movements from 11 against 11 matches, including, for the first time, a women’s match. This data goes through a machine learning algorithm that studies a total of 9.2 million frames, to generate new animations in real time and “create a natural and realistic football movement in various interactions on the pitch,” according to Electronic. Arts.

The novelties of FIFA 23 also go through adding more mechanics and different improvements to the existing ones. For example we have the shoe, a shooting mechanic based on skill and the balance between risk and rewards. Additionally, set pieces have been reworked to better control free kicks, penalties and corner kicks, and on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC advanced impact physics mean each limb of the body influences more naturally. in the path of the ball.

With the new animations and mechanics, FIFA 23 hopes to offer more variety and naturalness. The shots have different trajectories (low, downward or bounce), there are headers on the board, the defense can make aggressive tackles with clearance and the new types of passing, with the outside of the foot, through the back and volley, offer new ways to play as a team. All these innovations will also be at the service of the AI, so the games against the CPU should be more challenging.

Beyond all the technological and gameplay innovations, what Electronic Arts really cares about in each installment of FIFA is the FIFA Ultimate Team or FUT mode, which is without a doubt the most lucrative mechanic in the game. As a novelty in this mode we have a revised chemistry system to provide more flexibility when configuring the squad. Finally, to mention that in 2023 a free update will add the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand.
