Paradox Interactive’s game offerings of additional content are usually generous, and Age of Wonders 4 will be no exception. In this case, the Swedish publisher has revealed that the post-launch content plan for this 4X strategy and tactical combat title developed by Triumph Studios is made up of two premium add-ons and two expansions, which will be accessed through an Expansion Pass included in the Premium Edition.
Dragon Dawn, the first premium add-on content Age of Wonders 4 will receive, will allow you to harness the power of the Ancient Dragon Lords. This add-on will be available in Q3 2023 and will include a new dragon ruler type, a reptilian form, and two new tomes of magic. In the fourth quarter of 2023 the Empires and Ashes expansion will arrive, which will have as its protagonists the mortal empires that resurface after the devastation of the Wizard Kings. Its content includes a new civilization, new tomes of magic, new empire building options, and a new story.
In addition to revealing the post-launch content plan, Paradox has shown a story trailer for Age of Wonders.
During the first half of 2024 the remaining two contents will be available. The Primal Fury DLC will arrive in the first quarter of the year to add new options for creating races and new tomes of magic, while the Eldritch Realms expansion will be available in the second quarter. This add-on will open the doors to new realms and promises to bring “a new dimension” to the game. You won’t have to wait that long to receive Archmage Attire, a cosmetic that will be delivered to Expansion Pass owners on launch day.
Age of Wonders 4 will be available on May 2 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The standard edition of the title is priced at 49.99 euros, while the Premium Edition that includes the Expansion Pass goes up to 89.99 euros. The reservation of any of the two options is rewarded with cosmetic content.
