Samsung has unpacked the suitcases with which it has traveled to Las Vegas to participate in CES 2023 and two new Odyssey series monitors for gamers have emerged from them. The Korean company also thinks of those who aim at productivity as shown by the ViewFinity S9, a 5K panel that seeks to fight in the same category as Apple’s Studio Display.

Of the gaming monitors presented by Samsung, the one that attracts the most attention is the Odyssey Neo G9, a panel that offers a resolution of 7680 x 2160 and an aspect ratio of 32: 9. Its 57-inch 1000R curved screen uses Mini LED quantum technology with VESA Display HDR 1000 specification, while its refresh rate is 240 Hz. The Korean company says that this is the first monitor with DisplayPort 2.1, a standard that transfers data about twice as fast as DisplayPort 1.4. It also enables lossless Display Stream Compression (DSC) compression.

Several details of the Odyssey Neo G9 remain to be known, including its price and release date. There will be time to meet them, as Samsung does not expect to put this panel on sale until the end of 2023.

The latest addition to the Odyssey range is the Odyssey OLED G9, a monitor with a 49-inch Quad-HD 1800R curved display with a 32:9 ratio. Samsung says that “its OLED lighting with quantum dot technology is controlled pixel by pixel, allowing for almost infinite color contrast.” In this field, the Korean company fights with its compatriot LG Display, which may show us something at CES 2023.

The Odyssey OLED G9 features a 0.1ms response time, 240Hz refresh rate, and 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Those who want to use the monitor without a PC will be able to do so thanks to the Samsung Gaming Hub, a game streaming platform that enables cloud gaming via Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce Now. For those looking for another type of entertainment, the monitor offers Smart Hub, another platform to access applications such as Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube.

Finally, we have the Samsung ViewFinity S9, the first in its family to equip a 27-inch 5K screen and a resolution of 5120 x 2880, which is combined with a color gamut of 99% DCI-P3 to provide sharp details and true to life. reality. To adjust the built-in color calibration engine, you can use the Samsung Smart Calibration app. The Korean company ensures that due to its characteristics this monitor is “optimized for creative professionals such as graphic designers and photographers”

Those who get a ViewFinity S9, which also does not have a launch date or price, will be able to connect their devices to the monitor via USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 connections. In addition, this series of screens is equipped with a 4K SlimFit camera.
